Sheri Nagy

Missoula MT

Sheri Nagy was born in Bozeman, Montana and  graduated with honors from Montana State University with a B.A. in Fine Arts. Her earliest memories developed and deep love for the animals of the northwest the natural world.  This fascination has become the primary focus of her artwork.  After discovering a passion for sculpture, texture and composition of form took on a greater importance in her work.  This influences the way she sees a landscape and has transformed her painting technique so that she exclusively uses a palette knife to create her paintings.

 

Sculpture was her main focus for many years and led to the commission to create the monumental sculpture for the Veteran's Memorial Park in Renton, Washington that depicts an eagle sheltering the world under it's wing. Wildlife of the north west is the subject of most of her sculpture work. She has participated in numerous art shows including the American Artists Professional League, New York, N.Y., The C.M. Russell National Art Show, Great Falls, Montana, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Art Show, Denver, Colorado, and the Art on the Town, Port Angeles, Washington.

 

Sheri works primarily in her studio in Missoula, Montana but loves to paint out doors. She has participated in the Glacier Park Paint Out for the Hockaday Museum in Kalispell, Montana.
